Our Pathologists

Background and Overview of the Group

Founded in 1981, North Houston Pathology Associates, LLP (NHPA), today numbers eight Board Certified Pathologists, all of whom are Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. In addition to our physicians, we have two pathology assistants on our staff. Our group is a Texas LLP. Each pathologist is a professional association and contracts with the LLP.

We have been practicing at the same base location for more than 34 years and currently provide pathology services for hospital - one being a tertiary facility with a breast center as well as outpatient and short-stay surgery centers.

As demand for our services has grown, we have recruited pathologists who bring their own special expertise to the group. Varied residency and fellowship training in our group include institutions such as Baylor, the University of Texas, MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering, and the exposure to the expertise that this affords.

Many of us have our own special expertise in areas of clinical pathology, including transfusion medicine, hematology, and microbiology. Dr. Davy is board certified in Transfusion Medicine. Dr. Washington is equally credentialed in Hematology. NHPA group members collaborate among themselves as well as with the medical staffs we serve. We use intradepartmental consultations on many cases and require two pathologists' opinions on all malignant diagnoses.

If we believe a case requires additional consultation, we are not constrained by any relationship. On the contrary, we seek opinions from qualified experts in Houston and around the country. This gives physicians who work with us a distinct advantage over those who work with pathologists required to consult only with colleagues in their own group or affiliation, regardless of expertise.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is an important component of our pathology service. All our associates attend CME programs as well as patient care and collaborative patient conferences with other pathology groups in the city so that we continue to deliver the highest standards of care to physicians, institutions and their patients. We spend a great deal of time with out physicians and professional clients, finding ways to improve the quality of outcomes so that their needs - and those of their clients - are met.

Patient care is greatly enhanced through our proven method of operations and assessment, which is evidenced by our longevity and expansion of the market during the past 29 years.
